Would you like to discover how grows the main ingredient of the most famous green sauce of the World? Then, join us in this unique experience. We will take you to a historical basil farm where local producers have been cultivating genoese basil for about two centuries.
You’ll see how they grow their superior basil, known over the World, on terraced fields exposed to the sun that slope down from the hills to the Ligurian Sea, in modern facilities and produced with the utmost skill and passion, which has handed down through the many family generations.
You’ll be welcomed and you’ll learn the basil history, how is the production and more curiosities. After visiting the “serre” you’ll reach a historical market where a local expert will tell you more about the history and recipe of the famous pesto sauce recipe. Together you’ll prepare pesto sauce using the traditional mortar and pestle and at the end you will taste a delicious portion of “trofie”, the traditional hand-made pasta, dressed with the pesto sauce you will have prepared together with other traditional specialties such as focaccia Genovese, typical vegetable pies and fried vegetables or fish based on the fresh ingredients of the market and accompanied by a glass of Ligurian wine.
