Maybe we are biased because we are genoese, but we think Genoa, aka “The Superb” has something magical. This is a real city with an authentic Italian charm where mass tourism has not touched its essence. People coming here for the first time, fall in love with this place. So, be prepared!
This is the town where you find a labyrinth of narrow medieval alleys which make together the largest historical center of Europe, this is the city where you find ultra-centenarian boutiques and food shops passed down from generation to generation without changing a single detail and maintaining their ancient traditions. Criss-crossing throughout these alleys is surprising. You can walk each narrow street and end up popping out close to an imposing medieval church, a lovely square, a traditional food shop where you can have a piece of focaccia or a typical trattoria where you can taste the famous Genoese pesto sauce!
You can take a walk in Via Garibaldi in the upper part of the town and remain speechless: a UNESCO World Heritage Site lined with amazing palaces dating back to the 15th century.
But, Genoa is also about people and great stories, iridescent lights and vertical itineraries! This is a city with many souls: medieval, baroque and modern at the same time.
Impossible not to love it!
