Torino culture and tastes – from the farmers market to the royal palace
Today you’ll meet your local guide for a half day cultural and gastronomical experience in Torino: the city chosen by the Royal House of Savoy as its home, and first capital of Italy, Turin expresses all its charm as a noble and refined city with its magnificent palaces, endless white arcades, eighteenth-century gardens, riverside, historic lounges,and world-famous museums.
You will start your tour with the market of Porta Palazzo, the largest food market in Europe. It will be a feast for your eyes and for your taste buds. At the farmers’ market, you will learn about typical local products such as the delicious Carmagnola peppers and then continue to the old covered market where you will discover a world of varieties of cheese and salami.
You’ll also visit the Cathedral, the impressive Roman ruins and Piazza Castello, the main square in Turin with a long history to tell. Torino is an aristocratic town, and your tour will end at the Royal Palace, precisely in the Orangerie, now transformed into an elegant cafè where you will taste the famous Gianduiotto chocolate.
