The New Olive Oil Event in Imperia. Olioliva

Every year in November the historical center of Imperia Oneglia turns into the capital of Olive Oil. Every corner, square and even under the arcades of the village is packed with stands where you can taste and buy the famous ligurian “new olive oil” and all the typical products of the western part of Liguria.

This is one of my favorite festivals in Liguria, it absolutely goes well with my philosophy of having a healthy approach to food and eating in a sane and balanced way. So, I could not miss my annual appointment. I took the car and drove from Genoa to Imperia. In about one hour and half I was there, immersed in the culinary traditions of my territory!

All the stands are of local producers. Their olive oil, derivated by the ancient olive trees, is just pressed and they invite you to taste it and compare it. There are tasting sessions, exhibitions and different collateral events dedicated to the new olive oil, but also other different typical products, such as brigasca goat’s milk cheeses, brine taggiasche olives, pesto sauce, ligurian focaccia and farinata, lavender and olive oil bio cosmetics products and much more!

The festival worth a visit, I suggest to put it on your list if you have missed it this year, because as Norma Kamali says “Not only olive oil nourish, it has an extraordinary ability to enhance life, increase the quality of it and, most likely, extend it”.
