Best of the Italian Riviera

This week-long exploration of Liguria’s key destinations will see you immerse yourself in GENUINE local culture, art, nature and, of course, food and wine. The destination of Genoa will charm you with its contrasts, from noble palaces to medieval alleyways, whilst the beauty and elegance of the villages of Portofino, San Fruttuoso and Camogli will amaze you. And of course the Cinque Terre, with its colourful little towns, picturesque landscapes and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea will astonish you!

Why choose this trip

This trip has been designed for people who would love to travel more deeply, exploring some of the best spots on the Italian Riviera. From our insider’s point of view you will be able to discover the different souls and landscapes that the Italian Riviera can offer.

Welcome to Liguria!

Today is your arrival day. Benvenuto! Relax and start to soak up the Italian atmosphere!

We will choose one our favourite boutique hotels for your stay, far from the madding crowds and yet in a strategic and convenient position. We want you to be able to experience the charm of Liguria’s towns for yourselves, at the same time enjoying the lively and still authentic atmosphere.

Ready to enjoy a full immersion in the traditional local cuisine? Well, there is no way better to do that than with a tasting dinner in a well-known, typical Ligurian restaurant – the sort that locals would take their families to.

Cinque Terre villages ans lunch in the vineyard

Today you will also experience the authentic side of Cinque Terre – whether you are a wine lover or not, you should know that the Cinque Terre exist thanks to the immense work carried out through the centuries to create the unique, terraced vineyards that shape this exceptional landscape. That’s why visiting these amazing vineyards overlooking the sea signifies understanding the real soul of the Cinque Terre.

A well-known local producer will welcome you to his vineyard and tell you all about the story of his so-called “heroic” wine. After admiring the breathtaking panorama, you will taste the wine produced there, lunching among the vines.

Camogli, San Fruttuoso and Portofino

Are you ready to explore one of the best areas of the Italian Riviera – around the Portofino promontory – with your own, private tour guide? You will fall in love with the picturesque village of Camogli, with its rows of tall, colourful houses, lined up all along the beach and around the small port. Once you have tasted the famous Focaccia in one of our preferred bakeries, you’ll never forget the taste of that special crispy and yet soft and salty bread!

A panoramic trip by local ferry will leave from Camogli, guiding you all around the Portofino promontory with its lush vegetation and extraordinary cliffs which plunge into the deep blue water. You will reach San Fruttuoso, a magical, tiny place which consists of a Medieval abbey built directly on the pebble beach. Here you can take a delicious dip in the crystal-clear water or grab a cone of tasty fried local fish.

Then you will take the small local ferry again, this time heading to Portofino itself. Arriving in Portofino from the sea allows you admire the best view of the village. Take a stroll in the famous and central piazzetta, the square at its heart, amongst the luxury yachts and glittering boutiques and then on to the castle and the beautiful church of St. George, perched high up on the rocks. The vessel will then take you from Portofino to the elegant coastal resort of Santa Margherita, with its delicately painted buildings and enchanting harbour.

Discover Genoa's medieval heart

Enjoy a private walking tour of the historical centre of Genoa, accompanied by your passionate local guide. You will visit the most famous monuments of the town and its maze of medieval alleys, known in the local dialect as “carruggi”. Wandering through the carruggi is a unique experience and we believe that by just walking through these historical streets, you’ll feel the real essence of Genoa. Following our insider’s route, you’ll explore Europe’s largest medieval historical centre – after Venice – an untapped destination whose authenticity and contrasts will fascinate you, from the traditional food and craftsman’s shops, passed down through the generations, to the gorgeous Renaissance palaces listed as Unesco World Heritage Site.

At lunch you’ll be welcomed at a typical Genoese trattoria where you will taste some of the most typical dished such as crispy farinata, made from chickpea flour, as well as flavourful vegetable quiches.
